Mid-Year Beauty Faves 2018

15/07/2018

It’s the beginning of July and we are well into Winter in Australia. Working at a new job and living in a different culture than I was in Europe, I have changed a few of my beauty products. Winter makes me wanna try out new releases of beauty products and stay hydrated throughout the cold weather. Here is a quick update on my must-have beauty products of this year so far.

Glossier Cloud Paint in Haze

I am slightly sad that Glossier hasn’t expanded globally and come out to Australia just yet. I was lucky enough to purchase my Glossier faves while I still lived in London. This is my favourite blush right now and I genuinely wear it every day (even at work) and put any excess onto my lips as a sheer lipstick. I love the deep flush that this raspberry colour gives and it’s perfect for people with darker skin tones. These are very pigmented and the packaging can sometimes cause the tube to dispense more product than desired so be gentle and careful. Before this, I was using the Pixi Beauty Blush Duo in Peach Honey. One of my favourite looks for winter includes flushed, rosy cheeks! I aim for bright eyes and that wintry flush.

Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara

I walked into Sephora on Pitt Street after a long day at work hoping to find something new to use that was similar to (or better than) the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. My eye lashes appear stumpy and sparse without mascara and I found this to improve the volume and length of mine. It’s work appropriate and gives a dramatic effect at the same time. The Marc Jacobs has excellent coverage with only one coat as well. This is great stuff and the formula doesn’t require more than two coats. I find that this wears incredibly well throughout the day and I didn’t see much clumping or smudging. I would highly recommend this to someone looking for a new mascara.

Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer

I know this came out last year, but I love this gloss so much that I had to include it. For those of you who are on the fence about whether or not to try this out – do it! It is so gorgeous and gives your lips such a youthful and plump appearance. This gloss has a super delicious peach-vanilla scent that I like very much. The Fenty Beauty Gloss gives me a shimmery rose nude colour and looks so good on so many people! The doe foot applicator is large than others so you only need one swipe (or less) to cover your lips. This one is a keeper. I am obsessed and I will be buying it again.

Essie Go Ginza

This one is a Soft cherry blossom ? pink-toned purple colour. Love this nail colour so much! This polish went on really evenly and self-leveled much nicer than my other ones. For such a light colour, it takes two coats to reach full opacity and looks so beautiful on. It’s creamy and delicate, and it pops. It is just heaven for pastel lovers like me. Bring this to your next girl’s night in! Super cute and a nice change if you’re a girl who usually goes for nudes and pinks.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream

This cream is just perfect for Winter when your skin is a little more dry and dehydrated from the cold weather. It’s good for sensitive skin and I use it on both my body and face. This moisturiser works for me under the sun in hot weather and also in an air-conditioned office. I think it’s great for dehydrated, combination skin. It appears quite creamy and thick but after massaging it in and leaving it to be absorbed it appears to calm inflammation and repair skin.
