The Best Lip Balms That You Need In Your Life

22/02/2018

Hey everybody! Our lips may have not been looking or feeling their best this Winter season. When temperatures fluctuate, our lips can quickly become dehydrated, which can then lead to flaking, bleeding and painful swelling! The skin of the lips is thinner than skin elsewhere on the body, consisting of 3-5 cellular layers instead of up to 16.  Therefore, Lips tend to dry out faster than other parts of the body.

It’s important for men and women use the right products to create a barrier between harsh environmental elements and our lips. I’m sharing my picks for this year ranging from £4 to £70:

By TERRY Baume de Rose – £39

I’ve mentioned this one in my earlier blog posts and it is a firm installation in my bathroom, bedroom, handbag, and now life. This treats+prevents chapped lips and is perfect as an overnight treatment or for prepping a matte lip look. Invest in this!

Le Labo Lip Balm – £10

I’m obsessed with Le Labo Fragrances so I did not need any persuading to try this lip balm. It leaves a non-sticky matte finish and offers ample hydration.

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm – £10

Super nourishing lip balm with a light grapefruit scent. This is infused with plant oils, honey, shea butter, and grapefruit essence. If you love French pharmacy products like me, this one is a real treat.

Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm – £4

This one is a super affordable one that you can throw in your handbag and use every day. This contains beeswax, coconut oil, sunflower seed oil, peppermint oil and lanolin.

Lucas Papaw Ointment tube – £5

This ointment contains 4% paw paw and antimicrobial properties for burns, wounds, chafing and bites. This is great as an artificial barrier to protect your lips from the lack of humidity in dry air. FUN FACT: I once used this to heal up a bad burn from a waxing session and my skin was perfect after one day of excessive application.

La Mer Lip Balm – £50

This is a super luxurious treatment infused with a potent concentration of La Mer’s Miracle Broth™, with marine extracts, botanicals and vitamins to regenerate lip skin. It’s also flavoured with mint to leave your lips feeling refreshed and soothed. I’m obsessed with mint scented/flavoured lip balms.

Glossier Balm Dotcom – £10

Similar to the pawpaw ointment, this is a multipurpose balm and skin salve. I love the packaging and the different flavours/scents to add a subtle sheer tint of colour.

GLAMGLOW POUTMUD™ Wet Lip Balm Treatment – £16

Formulated with Sweet Almond Oil, Cocoa Butter, Murumuru Butter, Shea Butter, Kombucha Extract & TEAOXI® Moroccan Mint Leaf. This is another mint-infused lip balm that I love! It has a super soft texture and provides great hydration. I used this when I was in -10 degrees celsius weather in Switzerland and it kept my lips protected and gave me a lovely sheer red tint. It’s available in 6 different shades.

I adore lip treatments and lip products! I would say they’re my favourite category of beauty products. I’ll be creating a separate post on lip masks and overnight treatments later down the track.

Please let me know if you have any recommendations for lip balms or lipsticks and leave a comment!
