Before I go on vacation I like to do some pre-holiday prep. This involves not only packing, but also stocking up on beauty essentials and scheduled pampering. I like to stock up on usual products that I can’t live without overseas. For me, it’s important to have my hair freshly coloured/cut, skin looking health, and nails painted.
Last Saturday, I got some fresh blonde done at Mojka Hair Sydney. Much to my hairdressers dismay, I stopped using purple shampoo for two weeks up until my appointment, so that she and I could see the true brass colour of my hair.
As you can see I was stinging for a cut and colour because my scalp looks like the Cynthia doll from Rugrats. Added some more bleach and colouring to correct the base blonde. Next time, I’d like to slowly incorporate more brown into the roots and move the tones into a balayage.
It takes a lot of $$$, products, and maintenance for a naturally black-haired person to remain blonde. I currently alternate between a gentle shampoo and Fanola No Yellow Purple Shampoo to get the right shade and minimise brassiness. As a conditioner, I use Joico K-Pak Intense Hydrator Treatment For Dry Damaged Hair and I leave a bit of residue in my hair rather than rinsing completely clean.
After showering, I use Joico K-Pak Color Therapy Restorative Styling Oil before blow drying my hair. This is to ensure it doesn’t all snap off whilst styling. I also really like Kérastase Elixir Ultime Beautifying Oil when I’m by the beach or pool, to help with dryness in hair. Every second week I use Olaplex Hair Perfector No.3 Home Treatment to rebuild the bonds in my hair.
I often get SNS nails with tips, which generally lasts up to 3 weeks for me. I’m going for an old faithful pink colour, by the name of ‘OPI – Lisbon wants moor’ mixed with ‘funny bunny’ as the base.
I like freshly-coloured nails whilst on vacation, because it makes me feel great and looks nicer in photos. I hate chipped polish or broken nails when I’m on holidays and have the time to get them done. I like to do an at-home pedicure with a super opaque white for my toes. Fresh sets make me so happy! I love my current nails and I feel so ready to fly away tomorrow.
Before my holiday in Sicily, I want to ensure I’ve had proper exfoliation and good equilibrium in my skin. Of course, I’ll be out in the sun lots so I will need to use an SPF 30+ every day on my face and body. I like to use the Aspect Dr Deep Clean Cleanser for an everyday chemical exfoliation. I apply my usual Aspect Dr serums and moisturiser – such as Vitamin C, Complete Pigment Serum, Hyaluronic Serum, and Resveratrol Moisturiser. I think it’s important to stock up on Vitamin C products, both oral form and in skincare.
Twice before my trip, I will use the Omorovica Deep Cleansing Mud Mask, which helps to detoxify and brighten skin. I use the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask religiously, on the flight and throughout the day. Whilst on-board the plane, I like the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask as an eye mask and hydration top-up.
I generally pluck my own eyebrows before a trip and carry some tweezers in my luggage for any stray hairs. I use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo and have been for the last 4 years. Sometimes, I will get lash extensions, but at this trip I will be undertaking a lot of swimming and boating, so I am skipping eyelashes this trip. To top it all off I shave my entire body from nose to toes because my skin is too sensitive with waxing and I’m scared of laser removal as I can get abnormal scarring I.e. keloids or hyperpigmentation. Are there any other people out there who recommend laser or have had any adverse effects from it?
What is your Pre-holiday routine? Do you have any rituals or travel plans for this year? Let me know in the comments.
